Safari travel takes place in remote wilderness environments with inherent risks that no operator can fully eliminate. Before your final payment is due, every traveler is required to read and sign our Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. This page explains what that document is, why we require it, and how to complete it.
[ SECTION 1 ]
What is the Release and Hold Harmless Agreement?
The Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is a formal document in which you, as a traveler, acknowledge the inherent risks associated with safari travel and agree not to hold Misele Africa Safaris liable for injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from those risks. You still retain the right to expect a professional, safe, and well-managed safari. It is a standard requirement across the safari and adventure travel industry.
By signing it, you are acknowledging that certain risks exist in wild environments that are beyond any operator's ability to guarantee against. These include, but are not limited to:
Wildlife encounters and animal behavior
Game drives on unpaved and unmarked tracks in remote terrain
Limited access to medical facilities in national park areas
Infectious diseases, including those endemic to East Africa
Adverse weather, road conditions, and natural events
Political unrest, delays, or force majeure events
Activities operated by third-party providers (bush flights, walking safaris, cultural visits)
[ SECTION 2 ]
When you need to sign it
The signed Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is required from every traveler before final payment is made — that is, at least 60 days before your departure date. We will send you the document with your booking confirmation email, alongside your itinerary and payment details.
Each adult traveler must sign their own agreement. For travelers under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign on their behalf.

Final payment cannot be processed until a signed agreement has been received from all travelers in your party. Please factor this into your planning — we will send reminders, but we recommend completing it as soon as you receive it.

How to complete and return it
We will send the agreement as a PDF attachment with your booking confirmation. You can complete it in one of the following ways:
Digital signature — sign electronically using any PDF reader (Adobe Acrobat, Preview on Mac, or a free e-signature service such as DocuSign or HelloSign) and return by email
Print, sign, and scan — print the document, sign by hand, scan or photograph it clearly, and return by email
Return your signed agreement to travel@miselesafaris.com with your booking reference in the subject line. We will confirm receipt within 48 hours.

Request a copy before booking
You are welcome to review the full Release and Hold Harmless Agreement before confirming your booking. We believe you should know exactly what you are agreeing to — and we'd rather you read it at leisure before committing than feel rushed by it at the payment stage.

Activities operated by third party providers
Some activities in your itinerary may be operated by independent third-party providers — for example, hot air balloon flights, walking safaris led by specialist guides, cultural village visits, or domestic bush flights. Misele Africa Safaris acts as an agent in arranging these activities on your behalf.
For such activities, the third-party operator's own terms, conditions, and liability waivers apply in addition to ours. We will make clear in your itinerary documentation which activities are operated by third parties, and we only work with providers we have personally vetted for safety and quality.
