[ OVERVIEW ]
Tanzania’s greatest landscapes, complete
The Signature Explorations safari covers the full breadth of Tanzania's legendary Northern Circuit — from the ancient baobab forests of Tarangire and the shimmering alkaline shores of Lake Manyara, to the boundless plains of the Serengeti and the world's largest intact volcanic caldera at Ngorongoro. This is Tanzania done properly.
Where most operators follow a fixed script, Misele's guides bring creative autonomy to every day. If a pride of lions is napping in acacia shade and you want to stay, you stay. The itinerary is a framework — your guide, the landscape, and the animals write the actual story.

[ DAY BY DAY ]
DAY 1
Tarangire National Park
Tanzania's second-largest park greets you with baobab-studded savanna and the densest elephant population in the country. More than 30 herds migrate between Tarangire and Lake Manyara — you are entering their ancient corridor. Watch the tree lines: lions and pythons use them both.
DEPART ARUSHA — 2 HR DRIVE WEST
Elephant herds · Tree-climbing lions · Python sightings
DAY 2
Lake Manyara National Park Safari
UNDER THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY ESCARPMENT
Arrive mid-morning to Lake Manyara's layered world — dense groundwater forest giving way to open floodplains and an alkaline lake that turns pink with flamingoes. The Great Rift Valley wall rises sharply to the east. Buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and wildebeest move through the lakeshore in extraordinary concentration.
Tree-climbing lions · Flamingoes · Hippo pools
DAY 3
Ngorongoro Highlands to Serengeti
OLDUPAI GORGE · OPTIONAL MAASAI VILLAGE WALK
Cross the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands — the view as the plains open before you is one of Tanzania's defining moments. En route, visit Oldupai Gorge, where some of the earliest evidence of human life on Earth was uncovered. An optional stop at a Maasai homestead offers an hour with families whose relationship with this landscape spans generations. Arrive at the Seronera Valley as the light turns gold.
Oldupai Gorge · Ngorongoro panoramas · Maasai culture
DAY 4
Central Serengeti Seronera Game Drives
The Seronera is considered Tanzania's finest year-round game-viewing area. The river draws lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena to its banks throughout the day. Morning drives begin at first light, when the cats are still active and the plains feel private. Dinner in the bush — stars and silence uninterrupted by anything human.
SERONERA RIVER VALLEY · YEAR ROUND PREDATOR COUNTRY
Lion · Leopard · Cheetah · Full Big 5 territory
DAY 5
Central Serengeti Migration
SEASONAL WILDEBEEST & ZEBRA MOVEMENTS
In migration season, this day can stop time. Wildebeest and zebra arrive from the north in columns that stretch beyond sight — the same ancient instinct driving the same ancient path. In the dry season, the central area concentrates predators and prey around permanent water. Your guide reads both the landscape and the season; every version of this day is worth having.
Great Migration · Wildebeest · Zebra · Seasonal predator action
DAY 6
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Wind east from the Serengeti plains through the Ngorongoro highlands, arriving at the crater rim as afternoon light begins its descent over the slopes. The view from the rim — 600 metres above the caldera floor — is your first glimpse of one of the most dramatic ecosystems on earth. Overnight on the slopes.
SERENGETI EAST to THE NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Crater rim sunset · Ngorongoro Highland forest · Evening wildlife
DAY 7
Ngorongoro Crater · Return to Arusha
CRATER FLOOR DESCENT AT DAWN
Descend into the crater at first light — the preferred time for spotting the elusive Black Rhino before the day warms. The crater floor holds one of Africa's highest concentrations of wildlife in a single contained ecosystem: elephant, zebra, wildebeest, lion, and the Big 5 resident in this 260 km² bowl. The drive back to Arusha arrives by evening, with the Ngorongoro highlands framing a final farewell.
Black Rhino · Full Big 5 · Crater floor dawn

[ BEST TIME TO TRAVEL ]
There’s no wrong season, only different ones
June - October
Vegetation thins and wildlife concentrates around permanent water. This is the most consistent game-viewing of the year. Northward wildebeest river crossings peak July-October.
Dry season
November - May
Lower prices, fewer visitors, landscapes transformed by rain. Exceptional birdlife (500+ species active), calving season drama Jan-Feb, and great photographic light.
Green & Off-Peak Season
