These terms govern the relationship between you (the traveler) and Misele Africa Safaris (the operator) when you make a booking with us. By paying a deposit or confirming a booking, you agree to these terms. Please read them before confirming your trip — and contact us if anything is unclear.
[ SECTION 1 ]
The operator
Misele Africa Safaris is a licensed Tanzanian tour operator registered in Arusha, Tanzania, holding TALA Licence No. 034589. All safaris and services described on this website are operated by Misele Africa Safaris directly or through carefully selected local partners under our supervision.
[ SECTION 2 ]
Making a booking
Inquiry and quote
Submitting an inquiry form or contacting us does not constitute a booking. We will prepare a detailed, personalized itinerary and quote based on your requirements. This quote is valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.
Confirmation and deposit
A booking is confirmed when you pay a deposit of 30% of the total trip cost and we issue a written booking confirmation by email. Until the deposit is received, we cannot guarantee availability of accommodation or permits.
Final payment
The remaining balance (70% of the total trip cost) is due 60 days before your departure date. For bookings made within 60 days of departure, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.
Payment methods
We accept international bank transfer (SWIFT/wire) and selected online payment methods as agreed at the time of booking. Bank charges and transfer fees are the responsibility of the traveler. We will confirm accepted payment methods in your booking documentation.

Tanzania visa fees (currently USD 50 for most nationalities — check current requirements)
Travel insurance (required — see Section 6)
Vaccinations and medical expenses
Personal items, laundry, and telephone calls
Alcoholic beverages unless otherwise stated
Gratuities for guides and camp staff (customary practice but at your discretion)
Any activities not listed in your confirmed itinerary
Zanzibar hotel costs unless explicitly included in your package

Your confirmed booking documentation will specify exactly what is included in your trip. If anything is unclear, please ask us before confirming — we would rather clarify upfront than have a misunderstanding on arrival.

Changes to your booking
We understand that plans change. If you need to amend your itinerary, travel dates, or group composition after confirming, please contact us as early as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes, subject to availability and any costs imposed by accommodation or permit providers. An administration fee of USD 50 may apply for significant changes made within 90 days of departure.

Our obligations to you
Misele Africa Safaris is responsible for delivering the services described in your confirmed booking documentation to a reasonable standard. We will:
Provide the guide, vehicle, accommodation, and inclusions as confirmed
Notify you promptly if any element of your booking is unavailable and arrange a comparable alternative
Maintain appropriate liability insurance as required under Tanzanian law
Ensure all guides hold current, valid guiding licenses issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT)
We are not liable for events beyond our reasonable control — including but not limited to adverse weather, park closures, road conditions, wildlife behavior, political events, or acts of God. We are also not liable for services arranged independently by the traveler (such as international flights or pre-arranged hotels).

Travel insurance—mandatory
Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of booking with Misele Africa Safaris. Your policy must include:
Emergency medical evacuation — covering air evacuation from remote areas (minimum USD 100,000 recommended)
Medical expenses — covering hospitalization and treatment in Tanzania
Trip cancellation and curtailment — covering non-refundable costs if you must cancel
You will be asked to provide your insurance policy details before departure. We strongly recommend purchasing insurance at the time of booking to ensure cancellation coverage applies from that date.

Release and Hold Harmless Agreement
In addition to these booking terms, every traveler is required to sign a Release and Hold Harmless Agreement before final payment is processed. This document acknowledges the inherent risks of safari travel in remote wilderness environments and is standard practice across the adventure travel industry.
We will send the agreement with your booking confirmation. It must be signed and returned by all travelers in your party before the final payment deadline. You are welcome to request a copy for review before confirming your booking — contact us at any time and we will send it with no obligation.

Health, fitness, and special requirements
Safari travel involves game drives on unpaved tracks, variable weather, and accommodation in remote locations with limited medical facilities. Please inform us of any medical conditions, mobility limitations, dietary requirements, or other special needs at the time of booking. We will do our best to accommodate all requirements and will advise honestly if a particular itinerary is not suitable.
Vaccination requirements for Tanzania can change. We strongly advise consulting a travel health clinic at least six weeks before departure. As of the date of this update, yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from an endemic country. We do not provide medical advice.

Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute arising from a booking with Misele Africa Safaris will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania. We will always attempt to resolve disputes directly and in good faith before any formal process.
