[ OVERVIEW ]
Private Tanzania safari packages built around you, not a group schedule
Our Tanzania safari packages span three days to nine, covering the parks most people travel here for — the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the volcanic reaches of Lake Natron. Each itinerary is a framework: a starting point we tailor to your travel dates, your interests, and the season you're arriving in.
Some guests want to follow the Great Migration through the Serengeti. Some want the crater to themselves at sunrise. Some want to do both and spend three nights on Zanzibar after. We've done all of it — and we'll tell you honestly which option suits your trip best. That's the Misele difference.

Why book your Tanzania safari with a Tanzanian-owned operator
Many companies sell Tanzania safaris from offices in Europe or North America. Misele Africa Safaris is different — Tanzanian-owned, based in Arusha, and founder-guided. Here is what that means in practice.
Tanzanian ownership
Misele is owned and operated by Tanzanians — not a foreign holding company routing your money out of the country. Your safari supports local employment, local supply chains, and communities near the parks.Guide-led, guide driven experience
Our guides are personally vetted, deeply experienced, and trusted to follow their instincts. If something is happening ten kilometers off-plan, we go. Unlike larger operators who cap daily distances to control fuel costs, Misele guides have the freedom to find the animals - and that freedom defines the safari.Private, small groups only
We don't do shared vehicles or group departures. Your safari vehicle holds you and your party only — maximum six guests. No strangers. No compromising on where to stop or how long to stay.Low-impact ethos
We move through parks quietly, follow responsible wildlife viewing guidelines, and partner with accommodation that operates with a conservation ethic. Because the wildlife you come to see is the reason we're here at all.True customization
Our itineraries are starting points. Dates, pacing, parks, accommodation level, dietary requirements, mobility considerations — all of it is adjustable. We've never run the same safari twice.Direct, personal contact
When you contact Misele, you reach Misele — not a call centre or booking agent. We answer questions honestly, including recommending a competitor if we're genuinely not the right fit for your trip.[ TRAVELER REVIEWS ]

[ WHEN TO VISIT ]
Best time to visit Tanzania for a safari — and what changes by the season
The northern circuit offers rewarding wildlife viewing in every month of the year. The key question to ask yourself is what experience you want, and whether you want to time your visit around the Great Migration.
JUNE - OCTOBER
Peak dry season
Vegetation thins and wildlife concentrates around permanent water sources. Consistently clear skies and excellent photography light. The Serengeti's Great Migration river crossings peak in this window, and Tarangire's elephant populations are at their most concentrated. Most popular — and peak pricing.
Migration crossings · dense game viewing
NOVEMBER - DECEMBER
Short rains, warmer weather
Brief afternoon rains freshen the landscape without disrupting game drives. This shoulder season offers excellent wildlife, dramatically lower prices, and parks that feel far less crowded. This is one of our personal favorite seasons.
Fewer visitors · off-peak prices
JANUARY - MAY
Calving season followed by long rains
January and February bring the calving season to the southern Serengeti — predator action at its most intense. March to May can bring heavier rain; the parks are quieter and greener, with the lowest prices of the year.
Wildebeest calving season Jan-Feb · lush scenery Mar-May

[ FAQs ]
Tanzania safari FAQs — what travelers ask us most
-
Our Tanzania safari packages start from around $680 per person (based on a group of six in standard tented camp accommodation) and reach $2,700+ per person for nine-day luxury itineraries. The biggest variables are group size, accommodation tier, and travel season. We're transparent about pricing and can provide exact figures within 24 hours once we know your dates, group size, and preferences.
-
Yes — we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes emergency medical evacuation. Tanzania's national parks are remote, and while minor incidents are uncommon, the evacuation cost from a park without insurance can be substantial. Most good travel insurance policies from North America, Europe, and Australia include this coverage. We can point you toward reputable providers if needed.
-
Yes — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and other requirements are all manageable. We pass your needs to every camp and lodge in advance, and our guides carry information about your requirements throughout the trip. The further in advance you tell us, the better we can accommodate you.
-
The Great Migration is a year-round phenomenon — around 1.5 million wildebeest are always moving somewhere through the Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem. The dramatic Mara River crossings, where large herds plunge into crocodile-filled water, occur roughly between July and October in the northern Serengeti. The calving season in the southern Serengeti (January to February) draws predators in extraordinary numbers and is equally spectacular in a different way. Any of our Serengeti itineraries can be timed around whichever moment you want to witness — tell us your priorities and we'll match your dates to the action.
-
It starts with a conversation — via the inquiry form, email, or WhatsApp. We'll put together a detailed quote based on your dates, group, and preferences. Once you're happy with it, we ask for a deposit (typically 20%) to secure your accommodations and park bookings. The balance is due closer to your departure. We accept bank transfers. We'll walk you through every step.
